In a stunning update to the Ticketmaster breach reported earlier this year, the ShinyHunters hacker group has revealed that the scope of their attack is far greater than initially disclosed. According to new reports, ShinyHunters claim to have stolen 193 million barcodes, including 440,000 tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. The hackers are now demanding a staggering $8 million from LiveNation, potentially valuing the stolen data at an eye-watering $22 billion.
Boasting about the breach, ShinyHunters claimed it to be the largest publicly disclosed non-scrape breach of customer Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to date.
Potential Multiple Breaches
In a worrying twist, it's suggested that Ticketmaster might have been breached by two separate hacker groups. This raises questions about whether the company’s data is now being held for ransom by two parties or if ShinyHunters are trying to maximize their gains from a single breach.
What This Means for Customers
With these new revelations, Ticketmaster customers should remain vigilant. Monitoring accounts for suspicious activity and changing passwords are critical steps to take immediately.
